Health & Taiji Practice

The basic goal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture is to have one’s Chi or life energy flowing and balanced. This is considered a healthy state.

Yang Sheng is an important concept in Chinese medicine. Yang Sheng means “nourishing life” or “health cultivation”. This is achieved through diet, lifestyle and herbs. Regular practice of Taiji can improve personal health and longevity.Taiji nurtures chi flow and promotes balance in the body. It is real and tangible and changes can be felt during and after practice, nurturing your health and wellbeing.

Taiji is a Martial Art. Many Taiji practitioners are not overly concerned with the martial application side of Taiji for various reasons but rather practice for the joy that Taiji brings and the health that follows. I have seen first hand whilst training in China elderly folk moving beautifully, full of life and vigour as well as a good sense of humour, sharing a laugh with their friends. I invite you to join me for Taiji practice to experience the benefits first hand of what Taiji can give you.

I follow the Lineage of Grand Master Chen Xaiowang and his son Master Chen YingJun. Master Chen encourages us to build our foundation through zhan zhuang or standing to develop the dantian, silk reeling or chansigong practice to develop the sense of chi moving outwards from dantien and returning.

Then one learns the empty fist forms, push hands and weapons. Having seen and felt the skill & power first hand of these Masters is amazing. Perhaps even more so is the humility and good character of these Taiji greats considering how good they really are. I teach both group classes and 1 on 1 tuition in various locations on Sunshine Coast & Brisbane.
